Council Vocation Promotion Activities / Projects
- Proper and complete implementation of K of C RSVP.
- Collect "Pennies for Heaven" in support of Diocesan vocations.
- Pray the rosary before meetings for vocations.
- Include prayer for vocations in Prayers of the Faithful each week.
- Ask Council chaplain to speak on vocations at council meetings and
activities.
- Prepare articles for Council bulletins.
- Ask chaplain / seminarian to prepare column on religious vocations.
- Work with Parish Council to promote vocations.
- Develop & implement a traveling cross or chalice program. Rotate it
among Council and parish families and encourage them to pray for vocations.
- Religious Vocation promotion begins in the home. Distribute the K of C "Prayer for Vocations" card (#1874) and "Vocations Table prayer card" (#4175) to
members.
- Establish a program where council families host a seminarian or postulate
from a nearby seminary for dinner during holidays or other times off for these individuals.
- Organized prayer to promote vocations, especially holy hours.
- In conjunction with Eucharistic adoration programs.
- Sponsor annual vocations Mass. Invite families.
- Sponsor dinners for local Religious.
- Expose Youth to "Religious Vocation" Opportunities
- Attend the ordination of Seminarians supported by Council.
- Attend State Conventions
- Attend Supreme Conventions
- Distribute K of C and CIS Vocations Materials (refer to Vocations Materials Order form #9256.)
- Put up bulletin board for World Day of Prayer for Vocations, in Catholic schools
- January - Vocations promotion month
- Display in Council Hall
- Distribute in parishes
- Retreats
- Vocations awareness days at elementary or secondary schools and colleges.
- Develop a "Come Follow Me Day". (Shadow program with priest, sister, religious).
- Sponsor poster or essay contests in Catholic elementary and/or secondary schools.
- Sponsor tour to local monastery, seminary for acolytes.
- Invite Seminarians to Council activities.
- Arrange for seminarians and postulates to speak with parochial school and religious education classes. Especially when they are preparing to receive the sacrament of confirmation.
- Invite Seminarians to speak on vocations. (e.g. their experience as seminarian, trip to Holy Land, etc.)
- Fund / sponsor local advertisements for vocations. (billboards, print, TV/radio)
- Help sponsor Diocesan efforts to advertise for vocations.
- Work with parish Family Life committee in vocations activities.
- Operation Andrew. Provide rides / help at event.
- Parish dinners
- Extend personal invitations to events.
