American Wheelchair Mission - Since the inception of the program in July 2006 at state level, total donations are $20, 835.81 A breakdown of this figure is as follows
A total of $20,000.00 has been sent to the State Treasurer, Lorne Mayer, of which $11,000.00 was used to purchase 110 chairs for distribution to the Mexico City area in Fall 2008. Adding the funds in our local account this leaves us with approximately $10,000 ( or enough money to purchase 66 chairs)
Note that the cost per chair went from $75.00 to $150.00 when the matching funds dried up in early 2009. The donations we receive are used to give mobility to those around the globe who might not otherwise have those means.

Wheelchair Check Presentation
Leland Bailey, DD 17, is shown presenting a check in the amount of $870.50 to Jerry A. Wells, Wheelchair Chairman, after the six councils of the district held a fundraiser. The proceeds of a Poker Run were specifically raised for the “Iowa K of C Wheelchair Fund” and is now the record donation to the fund.
Thank you for this very generous check, which will purchase almost six chairs and can make a difference in someone’s life.
