Iowa Knights of Columbus Archive/History
Archivist/Historian, Tom Bormann
The State of Iowa is providing the Knights of Columbus with a safe method of storing any documents we
want in a climate controlled facility so that they will be in good condition for many years to come.
Now it is up to us to take advantage of this opportunity by informing our councils and encouraging them to
take part in the program. The Iowa Historical Society is located in Iowa City near the Old Capitol. Their
information is filed according to council so that it is easy to find anything you want. Tell your councils
to send a copy of their monthly newsletters to the following address: Tom Bormann, 1103 115th Ave.,
Bode, IA 50519 or e-mail to tjb@awcmail.com. I make printed copies
of all e-mails and file them as paper documents. We have received newsletters or printed matter from about
60 councils since the new fraternal year began. These will be filed and stored at the archives in Iowa City
and will be available for research in future years. Ths is one way of preserving the history of our order
in Iowa. Some councils are still sending their letters to Paul Smith in Oelwein. I will eventually receive
them from him and will file them along with the ones I have but please encourage everyone to change their
mailing list so that they come to me directly.
